Kenneth Richard Gildersleeve, 97, of Orange City, Fla. and formerly of Foxboro, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017. He was the husband of the late Christelle (Sparhawk) Gildersleeve, his wife of 48 years.Born in Waltham on June 25, 1920, he served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, then worked as a carpenter in Massachusetts while living in Foxboro for 35 years. He later moved into management, and was superintendent for several major school construction projects.He retired to Orange City, Fla. in 1986 where he volunteered with Habitat for Humanity for nearly 25 years, building homes in Volusia County and, as an active RV’er, also in several northern states on summer vacations.He was an active member in the South Foxboro Union Church and the First Congregational Church of Orange City. He served as trustee and deacon in both congregations.He is survived by his daughters, Paula (George) Currivan of Sunset Beach, N.C. and Marsha (David) Brown of South Lyon, Mich.; his brother, Alvin, along with 7 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers, Paul and Brian, and sister, Virginia.Visitation was at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, Aug. 10. Funeral services were held at First Congregational Church of Orange City on Friday Aug. 11. Burial was at Deltona Memorial Gardens. Rev. David Westcott and Rev.
